How to make Natural Dog Toothpaste
Ingredients
- Baking soda – 6 tbsp
- Salt – ½ tsp
- Vegetable/Pork bouillon – 1 cube
- Fresh or dried parsley leaves – 1 tsp
- Water – 1 tsp
How to make
This is an organic recipe for your dog’s dental health. Take a bowl and pour all the ingredients together. Stir briskly to make a smooth paste. Add a little more water, if required. Transfer it in an air-tight container and store. Use this safely to brush your dog’s teeth whenever necessary.
Easy DIY Dog/Puppy Toothpaste
Ingredients
- Baking soda – 1 tbsp
- Water or meat broth – 1tsp
How to make
Make a paste with the baking soda and the broth and safely brush the teeth of your dogs and puppies. This is a good recipe to keep away tartar buildup.
Dog Toothpaste for perfect white teeth
This is just a variation to the above recipe. Just add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to the ingredients. H2O2 has antibacterial properties and would clean up your dog’s teeth like pearl. However, make sure, you opt for the food-grade peroxide, since the nonfood grade might be fatal for your dog for its toxicity, especially, if you apply this paste to your puppy. It is most likely that, the puppies would swallow a bit of it! Hence, it’s your duty to be sure that, all ingredients that you use is 100% non-toxic, if swallowed.
Healthy Dog Toothpaste (with coconut oil)
Ingredients
- Cinnamon – 2 tsp
- Coconut Oil – 1/3rd cup
- Pork Bouillon Granules – 1 tbsp
- Hot water – 1 tbsp
- Baking Soda – 2 tbsp
How to make
Take a bowl and dissolve the granules in the hot water. This would make the toothpaste tasty. Later, add all the other ingredients to this mixture. Keep stirring continuously until the coconut oil turns soft and is blended well. Store it. For best results, use it at least 3 times a week.
Simple Organic Dog Toothpaste (with kelp)
Ingredients
- Kelp – ½ tsp
- Dried parsley flakes – 1/8th tbsp
- Virgin coconut oil (unrefined) – 1 cup
- Turmeric – ½ tsp
How to make
If the coconut oil is not soft enough to mix, melt it transferring it to a bowl and placing the bowl in hot water. Next, add the parsley flakes, the turmeric and the kelp to the oil and mix properly. This completely organic toothpaste is awesome for the dog’s tooth and is absolutely safe, even if your dog tends to swallow it down!

Store the toothpaste inside your refrigerator, in an airtight container.

Warning:
- Never use human toothpaste (any dental cream) for brushing your dog’s teeth. This contains fluoride, which can prove to be fatal for your dog if it swallows the paste.
- Electrolyte imbalances are common to dogs consuming large amounts of baking soda, and if they eat lots of coconut oil, it would bring in diarrhea.
- In case your dog threats to bite you while cleaning its teeth, take professional help from your vet or professionals. To keep your dog patient, you can also provide it with chew toys when your doggy dentist visits.
