DIY: Homemade Detox Foot Soaks with Listerine and Epsom Salt

As you relax your feet in foot soaks, your whole body tends to get rid of its tiredness quickly, since there are active nerve endings under your feet that quickly pick up stimuli. Make your own foot soaks at home with different ingredients for different purposes, and that should not only give you the best results in a very natural way, but would also cut down your expenses. Different foot soak recipes help in different conditions like athlete’s foot, calluses, cracked heels, sore foot, nail fungus, foot blisters etc., as also remove the dead skins from your feet and help in exfoliating, thus acts as foot softeners, making them look gorgeous. 1. Homemade Foot Soak Recipe with Listerine and Vinegar
Ingredients
- Listerine – 1 cup
- Apple cider vinegar – 1 cup
- Honey – 1-2 tbsp
- Warm water
How to make
Mix all the ingredients in a wide and deep pan so that it holds enough water to soak both your feet. Dip your feet and keep soaked for about 15 to 20 minutes. You can also add another round of warm water after sometime, if you feel the water is losing heat.

Better if your pan is non-metallic, since metals are good conductors to lose heat easily.
2. Homemade Foot Soak for Dry Feet
Ingredients
- A large basin
- Epsom salts (hydrated magnesium sulfate) – 1 cup
- Baking soda – 1 tbsp
- Essential oils
- Moisturizer
How to make
Fill the basin two-third with warm water. Make sure the basin is large enough to fit in both your feet comfortably. Add the Epsom salt to this water and mix well until dissolved. Later, also add the baking soda and stir well. Baking soda helps soothing dry skin and foot odor. Pour a few drops of essential oil to this and soak both your feet for around 20 minutes. Smear moisturizer over both your feet and massage lightly.
3. Homemade Foot Soak to detox feet by Epsom Salt
Ingredients
- Epsom salt – 1 cup
- Sea salt – 1 cup
- Baking soda – 2 cups
- Essential oil of lemon – a few drops
- Warm water
- Mason jar – 1 (of a half-gallon capacity)
How to make
You can either mix all the above ingredients first (except water) to make a mixture to store it in a mason jar to ease task during future foot-soak sessions, or else, you can also add the ingredients one by one to a basin full of warm water, and then soak your feet. Either ways, the above ingredients act as anti-fungal and anti-bacterial helping to detox your stinky feet and keep them healthy and stench-free.
4. Easy/Instant Foot Soak Recipe
Ingredients
- Sea salt/Epsom salt – ½ cup
- Hot water – ½ a bucket
How to make
Boil the water and bring it down to a comfortable temperature. Add the salt. Your foot bath is ready to use. Dip both your feet in the warm water, as long as it is warm. Wipe off with a soft towel.
5. Homemade Foot Bath with Salts
Ingredients
- Epsom salt – ¼ cup
- Kosher salt – ¼ cup
- Baking soda – ¼ cup
- Cornstarch – ¼ cup
- Warm water – ½ a bucket
How to make
To the warm water bucket, add the salts and dissolve thoroughly. Later, add the corn starch and also the baking soda and mix. Soak your feet and soothe them. You will feel completely relaxed in 15 minutes.
6. Natural Foot Soak Recipe with Coffee
Ingredients
- Honey – 1 cup
- Brewed coffee – 2 cups
- Epsom salts – ½ a cup
- River or marble rocks – 2 to 3 pieces
- Warm water – ½ a bucket
How to make
Boil the water and pour it in a bucket. First, add the epsom salts and dissolve thoroughly. Add the honey, the brewed coffee and mix well. By this time, the hot water would lose its temperature to a comfortable level. Now place the rocks under the water in the bucket, which you can use to rub your feet against to make them clean. This also soothes your under-feet. Now you are all relaxed in a little time!

Ingredients
- Milk – ¼ cup
- Water – ¼ cup
- Lemon juice – ¼ cup (freshly squeezed)
- Olive oil – 2 tbsp

How to make
First blend all the above ingredients together and apply this mixture on your feet. When done, submerge both your feet in warm water and keep them soaked as long as the water is warm. Repeat the process every night before sleep to get a pair of pretty feet to add to your personality.
8. Foot Soak using Hydrogen Peroxide
Ingredients
- Hydrogen Peroxide (3% solution) – 2 cups
- Sea salt – 1 cup

- Warm water – 4 cups
How to make
In a bucket or tub, put the warm water and add all the ingredients one by one. Soak your feet as long as the water is hot. Hydrogen peroxide is an excellent antiseptic, and would destroy all primary infections and toxins from your feet.

- Rice water – 2-3 cups
