How to make

Step 1 – Peel the lemons in long strips by a vegetable peeler, and simultaneously slice out the white pith (inner wall) from these peels and discard them. Now put the peels in a pitcher (of 2-quart capacity) and add the vodka to it. Cover the pitcher with a plastic wrap and keep aside for 7-10 days at room temperature (some people would even want to let it settle for a fortnight or even a month!).

Step 2 – Boil water in a saucepan and pour in the sugar. Let it dissolve completely. When done, let the syrup cool down to normal temperature and allow it to stand all night.

Step 3 – Strain this mixture through a mesh strainer, discarding the peels. Your limoncello is ready! Serve it very cold. Store the rest in stylish bottles, and you can easily store this for more than a month, if refrigerated.

Tips

  1. When you use lemon, make sure you do not use the white pith in any way, else, your limoncello might turn bitter.
  2. The flavor of your limoncello depends upon how long you are soaking the lemon peels/fruit slices. Longer the time, stronger the flavor!
